Environment

The BLOC Québécois’ platform regarding the environment hasn’t changed much since the 2011 election. They’re primary focus in the environmental sector of their campaign is alternative energy. They will provide tax incentives to help families convert their home heating system and undertake energy efficiency retrofits in their homes. They will support companies to become more energy efficient means of production. They will take big steps in promoting electric cars by re-establishing and improving the eco AUTO Rebate Program for fuel-efficient vehicles. All of these measures are part of their plan to reduce Quebec’s dependence on gas and oil.

The BLOC Québécois has also expressed an interest in fighting climate change. They have spoken of short term, middle term and long term plans to meet a national greenhouse gas emission target. By 2020 they plan to reduce greenhouse gas levels by 25%-40%, and by 2050 to reduce levels by 80% compared to what they were in 1990.
